Forged Steel Swage Die Bolster Plate

For over 4 decades, MED-KAS Hydraulics has been a high quality provider of custom machined manifolds and sub plates. In the project highlighted here, MED-KAS was commissioned to machine a swage die bolster plate for a customer in the forging industry. This plate was designed to hold the lower die shoe in place. Milling, drilling, and facing were carried out on forged steel, utilizing an advanced in-house 4-axis horizontal CNC machining center to provide the required form. The part was machined to a very smooth mill finish, and cleaned with a deburring process to remove machining debris. A tight tolerance of ± 0.001" was held throughout.

The finished bolster plate featured measurements of 59" in length, a depth of 36", and 20" in thickness. Comprehensive quality assurance protocols including visual and dimensional inspections were carried out to ensure standards were met. After a turnaround time of 8 -9 weeks, 2 bolster plates were shipped to the client in Pennsylvania.
